The Zero Marginal Cost Society: The Internet of Things, theCollaborative Commons, and the Eclipse of Capitalism by Jeremy Rifkin

Three types of the Internet:
(1) communication,
(2) energy, and
(3) logistics
These are also necessary infrastructure for IoT, which are supposed to be operated with (almost) zero marginal cost.

People notice that accessing (sharing) products / services is more important and effective than owning them.

The zero marginal cost of society only with the initial and very small operating cost means:
1. No scarcity - Products and services are not rare and provided for (almost) free; they are not counted in GDP. Principles of capitalism are not held anymore. Users of the products and services are not dependent on them and do not pay extra money (=zero profit).
2. No exchangeable value - Products and services have value to be used and shared, but do not have value to be exchanged.
3. Abundance and value to be used and shared are the center of our economic activities.

How Google Works

It is easy for a highest-paid (-ranked) person who does not understand what's going on to exhibit high-handed behavior and keep one's opinion straight. However, it is important to trust one's team (subordinates) and let them think about a better way to get things done. Confidence and magnanimity are keys.
